Three-dimensional structure of a classical tRNA, e.g. yeast tRNA Phenylalanine (Moras, D et al. (1980), Nature, 288, pp 669-674). The color code defines the various domains of the secondary cloverleaf structure.

The mammalian mitochondrial genomes contain one gene for each tRNA, with the exceptions of tRNA Leucine and tRNA Serine for which two genes are present.
